Founding Story
Lamai International School (LIS) proudly opened its doors to the children of Koh Samui in January 2016, marking the beginning of a new era of quality international education on the island. Since its establishment, LIS has been dedicated to providing students with a high standard of learning within a positive, inclusive, and flourishing environment. ​The school currently offers classes from Foundation to Year 6, which is thoughtfully delivered by our team of highly qualified and passionate educators. Each teacher at LIS is committed to fostering intellectual curiosity, creativity, and a lifelong love for learning. Our approach combines rigorous academics with a nurturing atmosphere that allows every child to thrive at their own pace and according to their unique learning style. ​At Lamai International School, we believe education extends beyond academics. Our curriculum incorporates Education for Sustainable Development (ESD), inspired by the United Nations Agenda 2030 and the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Through this initiative, students are encouraged to become responsible global citizens who understand the importance of environmental stewardship, social responsibility, and ethical leadership. In addition, our Socio-Emotional Learning (SEL) framework supports the personal growth and well-being of each student, helping them develop empathy, resilience, and strong interpersonal skills. ​With small class sizes, modern facilities, and a vibrant multicultural community, LIS provides a truly enriching learning experience.
